New Orleans, The Crescent City

New Orleans, The Crescent City

Hello Shaksters! If you are like me, in love with “The Originals“, my favorite TV series of all time, and even if you are not like me, you probably want to go visit and experience New Orleans, the city that care forgot.

Well I did. I went there for my spring break this year, and I was just amazed by the music (jazz and blues), the culture and the vibrance of the city. I don’t regret this. It was so far, one of the most wonderful trips I have ever made.

Where can you stay?

Le Meridien, Downtown New Orleans

I stayed at “Le Meridien“, and I could not have found better. The hotel which has an European feel and vibe was near everything (within walking distance of the French Quarter, Canal Street, Bourbon Street, Faubourg Marigny, Frenchman Street…), so I walked a lot around the city, which is a good thing because I had to burn the calories that I was ingesting every day with their amazingly delicious food.

There is many things that you can do there. You can walk around, eat lot of good local food and you can also relax near the pool at the hotel. Unfortunately I did not get to swim but it’s all fine because I was busy discovering NOLA anyway.

You never get bored in NOLA, especially the nightlife is vibrant and full of life, and in the middle of the jazz city you could hear some jazz music playing a little more everywhere. If you love partying, that’s a city for you.

On the other side, if you love adventure, there is much more you can do and there are many different tours organized to visit popular places in New Orleans. I went to Lafayette Cemetery No.1 in the Garden District (had to because it’s where some scenes of The Originals were filmed), Congo Square, did a boat tour with the famous Steamboat Natchez, Jackson Square and so on.

On the last day, I went to do a swamp tour at Jean Lafitte with Airboat Tours and got to see alligators in the Mississippi River. While there, I saw a white alligator, which is rare. I even got to hold a baby alligator of eighteen months called “Sugar”. It was fun and I loved it. This is a must do while in New Orleans.
